Alien Disaster Alien Disaster Trilogy Book 1 eBook Rob May

This book is nothing but action. If you are looking for a rush, read it. I enjoyed it. I was halfway through before I realized how action packed it was. If you want a slow period to rest your mind and take a break it is not in this book.

The main character is the only character with much of a back story. This means the whole story pretty much revolves around him. Even his love interest is only in the story in support of advancing his story. I think a more fleshed out cast of characters could have improved the story, but it still rates a solid four out of five stars.

I would definitely read something else from this author.

Alien Disaster Alien Disaster Trilogy Book 1 eBook Rob May Reviews

Interesting Space Adventure, good characters, lots of plot twists, but young characters may be a turn off for some.
It was a great book. I enjoyed it very much. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a lot of twists and turns. I was very hard to lay down.

Klay
You can never have too many alien stories, what with there being so many different species. In Alien Disaster we're introduced to the balaks, a race who has their sights on acquiring an artifact that can either be the cure or curse of their kind. The individual in possession of the metallic canister is none other than our hero of the story, Brandon. To his knowledge, he's a typical teenager, with the exception of his kaleidoscopic eyes. With nothing but his wits and his gang of friends, he must ensure the safety of this artifact, and the planet earth.

Through this story, we're led through many locations, and many heated battles--on land, and in space. The action is plentiful and suspenseful. There's also enough twists and turns to keep you on your toes. There's more to Brandon than we're first let on. As we go through this adventure, we uncover more and more of the truth, and the secrets to the artifact. It's a fun, fast-paced tale that's worth a read. I look forward to the sequel when it comes out later this year.
It kept me engaged, a nice spin on the alien invasion tale.
It moved through the story quickly, giving just enough details.
I finished in one sitting.
I am planning to head on to the next of the trilogy to see how the world fares.
I enjoyed this book a lot. It held my attention and I found the characters to be enjoyable and engaging, if a bit stereotyped. Most ARE teens, though, so, let's face it--middle-class teens ARE a stereotype!
This was action-packed, and I mean ACTION-packed!
The reasons leading to the disaster are interesting and also thought-provoking, considering recent advances in military technology.
I do plan on buying the other two books in the trilogy soon.
I love science fiction and fantasy! I was intrigued by the synopsis and reviews and ordered the book. It seemed geared to a younger reader and the plot gets stretched thin. "Catastrophic events" get skimmed over. More definition and more depth to the protagonists would help.
All that being said, I've just read the second in the series. It is a fast read and if you enjoy 'lightweight science fiction' you'll like this.
There is so much I loved about "Alien Disaster" I almost don't know where to begin. Almost. Since I'm a total geek, I'm going to start by raving about the scientific accuracy and plausibility embedded in this story. A couple minor details were a touch stretched, but overall the author went through great pains to ensure that the descriptions and details didn't defy science or common sense. I can't express how excited I was to read an intelligently written science fiction book with a competent protagonist!

Alien Disaster is about the heroics of a teenage boy, Brandon, and his friends and family during an alien attack of England. The action starts in the first chapter and the excitement only builds from there, with twists and surprises at every turn. I loved the protagonist, Brandon. He had qualities that reminded me of Orson Scott Card's Andrew "Ender" Wiggin (from "Enders Game"). Namely, Brandon is intelligent, confident, cool, caring, and motivated by his sense of morality.

I always try to keep my reviews balanced by pointing out a couple things I didn't like about the book, but it was hard to find flaws with this one. My only complaint was that I had a little trouble keeping "Kat" and "Gem" straight in my mind at first because both are single syllable names. I also had a touch of trouble with "James" and "Jason". However, this did not significantly impact my enjoyment of the book and I was eventually able to get the characters straight.

Overall, this is the best book I've read within the past year and I would enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who will listen - especially fans of science fiction.
