Bridget O'Shea had sworn she'd never fall in love again. She had a hotel, The Black Swan, to operate alone, since her sisters--Catherine and Alice--had both married the previous year. And then there was Ella, her lovely baby daughter. The hotel and Ella took up all her time and energy. Wyatt Ferguson had planned on staying in Huttig, Arkansas, just long enough to wait for the next train going south. But a red-haired lady who thought he was another out-of-work soldier just home from the war insisted on hiring him to kill a rat for her. The Black Swan seemed a good place to stay for a while. After all it was only for six weeks and what could happen in that time?

I read the first book in this series and didn't really care for it. As much as I love Carolyn Brown, I just thought the book didn't live up to its potential. I had decided not to read more of the series but I wanted to know if they had put the body where I thought. So, I skipped book two and bought this one because it was only .99. The characters in this book were okay and, as always Ms. Brown's details about the period that she is writing about are fascinating. The story itself was slow and boring and I started skimming to get to the end. I should have just turned to the epilogue. And, yes, the body is where I thought they had put it. So, in that way, the story did measure up for me.Product details

Come High Water Black Swan Historical Romance edition by Carolyn Brown Romance eBooks Reviews
This was the best of the three. The characters were well developed and good interplay between them. Light romantic read but not sappy and not graphic sex. Let you enjoy your imagination. Enjoyed the interplay of characters. Some good lessons to learn too.
As usual, beautifully written and keeps your interest . This adventure twists and turns and keeps you guessing right up to the end. Now on to the next two in the series.
Although I enjoyed reading this book, at times it was a little boring and slow. I like Carolyn Brown as an author, so I stuck with the book. I am a new fan of CB, so there are many of her books I have yet to read. The first book I read was Augusta. I was hooked after that. I guess I keep using that as a measuring stick. This book just didn't hold my attention, but I did finish it. I will read more Carolyn Brown books. This one gets only 3 stars from me.
This was a wonderful story. Terrific characters, great story line, made you feel like you were there. Carolyn Brown never fails to deliver a great story. Love her books!
Serious, comical, loving all at once. Expect the unexpected and how love can appear out of unusual circumstances. The final book that answers the first question asked in the first book? Where did they bury Ralph, the abusive husband.
There's nothing like a romantic story with a totally surprise ending. This was a sweet read. Great characters. Good research.
Bridget O'Shea is the last of the three sisters who have been running the Black Swan Hotel in Huttig, Arkansas since their parents died. Bridget sees a rat in the kitchen and runs to the train station to find someone to kill it for her.
Wyatt Fergusen was sitting in the station waiting for the next train to Texas and Bridget asks him for help. She thinks he is out of work and offers him a handyman job. He takes it even though he left to a wealthy family and doesn't need it. I
This is the last story in this series and filled with good times.
