While winter rages outside in the city and the snow relentlessly keeps falling, she thinks back on times past – both good times and bad.
What did she in fact do at the crossroads of life, and were her choices right or all wrong? The choices... They were many, and some had consequences larger than one person could handle. Did she choose well or should she have walked down other paths. And, in the end, does she really want to change anything?
With her cat as company, she starts a diary. She puts down her hidden away reflexions over a life that could have been and a life that is.
Dancing With Life edition by Tina Lindegaard Literature Fiction eBooks
This book is beautifully written, and minimalist. There are only two characters that we can "see" in this book, the main character who is reflecting upon her life from childhood to middle-age, while writing in her diary in her Spartan apartment, and her cat.Loved hearing about the cat, and how this woman (who does not have a name until the very end of the book) gazes fondly at her pet as she writes.
This woman reminisces about a major life-altering event that has happened to her once she has her relationship with a man she loved. She also goes over her life, decade by decade, recalling the highs and lows, with feeling.
I enjoyed the book. It made me think about what life is all about.
It is difficult for any author to create a story with a minimalist setting with no action, no back-and-forth romance. For it to succeed, the feelings must be so powerful, that the reader is just drawn in. The quality of the writing has to be so superior, given the constraints placed upon this story. It's like watching a one-character play in a theatre. The author does a compelling job of it!

Dancing With Life edition by Tina Lindegaard Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Caution! A spellbinding book that needs to be be read with care!Although I found the beginning a little slow and the minimalistic setting sparse initially, it sets the scene perfectly.I got sucked into the woman's diary writing immediately. What a neat concept to review your own life and address/dedicate it to ...somebody else in their teens, twenties...thirties...etc. A page -turner with an ending I so not expected. Being of a similar age, it is still haunting me. Life is given to us without a proper manual, each has to make her own decisions. No North Star is guiding us through troubled waters.Wondering if it would be lost on my daughter, but she could learn the world from it...I can highly recommend it.
Lindegaard writes a study in life in a different kind of manner. This is the story about a cat living her life during the snowy months, while her human companion takes herself (and us) on a journey of life over the decades she has lived.
The main character decides to write in her diary for the first time, and what pours out is a diary written to her former self over the decades. All the time, she communicates with this cat that is left to watch the house during the day.
The writing is done wonderfully, and draws you in. It is life you will laugh and cry. You will be up and down while reading this and reliving the main character’s life. And it will make you think of your own life along the way.
The idea of this story is brilliant. It’s one setting, one human character. A soliloquy is difficult to write, but Lindegaard has pulled it off beautifully.
